Nottingham Forest look set to win the race to sign Scott McKenna with Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes confirming that a deal is close, according to the Daily Record.

The report claims that a fee of around £3 million has been agreed with the player set to sign for Forest in the coming days.

At 23 McKenna has the potential to improve and comes with a glowing reputation as a highly-rated youngster.

The Dons central defender is left-sided and during his time with the club has collected 16 caps for Scotland.

Forest have gone with Joe Worrall and Tobias Figueiredo at the back so far this season but both have struggled for form.

With Loic Mbe Soh also in contention for a place, could Sabri Lamouchi be about to shake up his defensive unit?

Only time will tell whether that is the case but nonetheless supporters have taken to Twitter to discuss the interest in McKenna.

It seems as though plenty would welcome it and see a new central defender as a badly-needed addition.
