Nottingham Forest forward Nuno Da Costa has been offered to Ligue 2 outfit Dijon, according to French news outlet Foot Mercato.

Da Costa only signed for the Reds during the January transfer window for £1.8 million from Strasbourg.

He picked up an injury during his first outing for the club against Charlton Athletic and didn’t play again until after the restart.

The 29-year-old started four games once play resumed and showed flashes of what he was capable of.

He was often deployed as a winger towards the end of the campaign, with his more eyecatching performances coming from wide areas.

Now it would seem the club’s new arrivals have bumped him down the pecking order, with the Reds ready to cash in.

Dijon are thought to be interested but they don’t see landing the Forest forward as their immediate priority.

The fact he is available might alert other clubs though and it could spark interest from elsewhere.

Da Costa failed to find the net during his time at the City Ground and the prospects of him featuring for the first-team again now look bleak.

He started the first two games of the current season against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup and QPR in the league.

Following those performances, he has slipped off the radar, however, not even making the bench in games against Cardiff and Huddersfield.

NFN Verdict – Da Costa a victim of poor January recruitment; selling him looks wise

Nothing against the forward but quite simply, the Reds needed to attract better during the January window.

Had Forest signed a bit more quality during the mid-season window, they would have given themselves a proper shot at promotion.

Instead, the Reds are now left with several players who don’t fit into Lamouchi’s thoughts for the current campaign.

Offloading some players before the window closes is a priority and Da Costa looks like being one of those.
