Former Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash played his part in a stunning 7-2 win for Aston Villa over Premier League champions Liverpool – and Forest fans were quick to salute him.

The 23-year-old has started every Premier League game for the Villans and doesn’t look out of place among the country’s elite.

A hat-trick from fellow new signing Ollie Watkins, two goals for Jack Grealish and one apiece for Ross Barkley and John McGinn left Jurgen Klopp’s men shellshocked.

Forest fans love to see Liverpool on the wrong end of a poor result, with the rivalry between the two clubs stretching back to the seventies and eighties when the two clubs were competing for titles.

The Reds fans took to Twitter after this game to rave about Cash’s contribution as Dean Smith’s men took Liverpool down a peg or two.

Cash moved to Villa Park for £16 million during the summer after playing a starring role for the Reds during 2019/20.

Very few would begrudge Cash his place in the Premier League and after three games of the campaign, his new side sit level top of the division with nine points.

Forest fans took a great deal of satisfaction from the ex-Red helping to plot Liverpool’s downfall though and here is a selection of Tweets from Forest fans regarding Cash.
