Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba has posted a touching Tweet paying homage to Sabri Lamouchi who departed the club yesterday.

The French head coach was replaced by proven Championship promotion winner Chris Hughton.

Samba was signed by Lamouchi in the summer of 2019 and quickly established himself as the club’s number one goalkeeper.

Since arriving from Caen for £1.8 million he has played 47 times for the Reds and has established himself as the club’s number one stopper.

Samba has taken to Twitter to thank his former boss for signing him for Forest and admits he is keen to focus on the hard work ahead.

Samba has kept goal in all of Forest’s five games this season and it seems likely he will remain number one under Hughton.

Towards the back end of last season, it was pretty evident that the 26-year-old’s form tailed off and hopefully a new manager will get him back on track.

He showed signs of returning to his best form in the two games against Huddersfield and Bristol City but there is still room for more improvement.

Lamouchi’s dismissal didn’t come as a shock given that the Reds had lost seven matches in succession.

That doesn’t stop it hurting some of the players though and it seems Samba was clearly a fan of Lamouchi’s.

The goalkeeper now needs to prove himself to a new manager and will hope to continue between the posts.

Hughton is a proven Championship manager with three promotion campaigns under his belt and the players will be chomping at the bit to impress him.

Forest are next in action when they face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park a week on Saturday.
