Nottingham Forest defender Cyrus Christie stepped off the bench early doors for the Republic of Ireland during Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Wales, following an injury to Kevin Long.
The 28-year-old helped his country to a clean sheet against Ryan Giggs’ team with a competent performance.
Christie checked in at the City Ground on a season-long loan from Fulham last month and has featured in two games for the Reds during 2020/21.
During 2019/20 he helped the Cottagers to the Premier League, as Scott Parker’s team won the Championship play-offs.
Christie has now collected 25 caps for the Republic of Ireland and collected his latest one having not originally made the squad.
The defender was called up as a replacement for Everton defender Seamus Coleman who is nursing a minor hamstring injury.
Christie is a veteran of 200 appearances in the Championship and once he settles he could prove to be a big player for Forest this season.
Following his latest outing for the Republic of Ireland, he took to Twitter to speak of his pride and supporters were quick to congratulate him.
Here is a selection of Tweets from supporters as Christie picks up his latest cap for his country.
Congrats on your 25th cap Cyrus #COYBIG
