Martin Keown has suggested to TalkSport (16/10; 10:57) that Anthony Knockaert will be a good signing for Nottingham Forest as he prepares to sign on loan.
The Frenchman is set to sign for the Reds on a season-long loan deal, despite having only completed a permanent £10.8 million transfer this summer.
Knockaert helped the Cottagers to promotion last season but hasn’t featured in the Premier League under Scott Parker during 2020/21.
With that in mind, it looks as though he will reunite with Chris Hughton, with the Forest boss doing wonders for the winger’s career at Brighton.
During the 2016/17 campaign, he fired 15 goals and registered nine assists as the Seagulls won promotion to the top-flight.
Keown believes, he will be a solid signing for the Reds and suggested as much this morning.
He told TalkSport (16/10; 10:57): “Knockaert makes things happen, doesn’t he?
“You can see why Hughton wants him, he backs him and he believes in him.”
Forest hope to get the deal done before today’s 5pm deadline at which point the window will close until January.
The Reds have added 13 new players to their ranks this summer and the squad is somewhat bloated.
Another challenge for Forest before the cut-off is almost certainly to try and get a few more out of the door too.
Knockaert’s arrival would be a solid one though, with the squad looking somewhat short on attacking options.
The former France under-20 international is a proven Championship performer and with an array of skills, he should be an asset at the City Ground.
Perhaps crucially, Hughton trusts Knockaert as a player he fancies to do a job and that can only bode well moving forwards.
