Knockaert was added to the Forest ranks on transfer deadline day on loan from Fulham until January – with the option to extend the arrangement further.

After helping Forest to salvage a draw against their fierce rivals, he had a message for the supporters and also revealed what impressed him about the performance by his teammates.

Knockaert’s introduction certainty gave Forest more impetus in the game after a drab first-half in which Derby were far the better side.

A proven Championship performer, the ex-Leicester City man is an eye-catching signing for Forest and there will be more to come from him.

Knockaert operated on the right-hand side and his ability to cut inside and use his wand of a left foot proved a quality asset.

He is right to suggest that the performance in the second half was better than the first half showing.

Forest fell behind to Martyn Waghorn’s stunning free-kick and the Rams had chances to strengthen their position.

The challenge for Chris Hughton is now to ensure Forest start producing the goods for more of the 90 minutes and not after his team has gone a goal behind.

Once Knockaert gets back up to full fitness he should become a big player for the Reds during the 2020/21 campaign.

His debut went well and supporters will be excited to see more of him in future weeks.
