Nottingham Forest Under-23s defeated Charlton Athletic 4-3 this afternoon to continue their good form in the Professional Development League.

Andy Reid’s team are now unbeaten in six and have won their last four matches in the league.

The game at Charlton’s training base provided a frantic start with six goals scored in the first half-an-hour.

Forest snatched the win in the 51st minute with the Addicks unable to provide an equaliser for the fourth time.

The Reds won the game courtesy of goals from the in-form Will Swan, Cafu and Yassine En-Neyah.

Cafu made his first outing in a Forest shirt since arriving from Olympiacos in the summer and clearly made an impact.

He was joined by Gaetan Bong who has played just an hour for the first-team since arriving in January.

The 32-year-old was interestingly Chris Hughton’s left-back when Brighton won promotion to the Premier League.

It remains to be seen whether he might force his way back into the reckoning, although an outing for the under-23s suggest he is some way off.

Cafu is another interesting one. He’s on loan at the City Ground, arriving as part of the deal which saw Tiago Silva sign permanently for Olympiacos.

The 27-year-old could well have a part to play this season and a goalscoring first outing will put him in good shape.

Swan is another who might be one to keep an eye on for supporters.

He has been in free-scoring form for the under-23 ranks and looks capable of playing as the lone striker or as a two.

Reid’s men are next in action when they face Colchester United at home next Monday.
