Nottingham Forest might not enter the FA Cup until the third round of the competition but there was still a couple of interesting pieces from last night’s first-round draw.

One match involves two Forest loan players coming up against each other in the competition, whilst another sees a potential future star coming up against a former master.

Brennan Johnson has joined Lincoln City on loan where he has played in a number of positions since Michael Appleton chose to give him regular first-team football.

The Imps are flying in League One and they will take on Forest Green Rovers in the first round, where Jayden Richardson will be hoping to dump Johnson out of the competition.

Some had called for the young defender to be handed a chance to shine following the departure of Matty Cash – although Sabri Lamouchi opted for Jordan Gabriel instead.

Meanwhile, Tyrese Fornah made his first-team debut in the FA Cup as a late substitute against Chelsea last season and he’s now earning rave reviews on loan at Plymouth Argyle.

An interesting tie will see him come up with Ben Watson who left Forest in the summer to sign for Charlton Athletic.

Watson was the brains in Lamouchi’s team last season but a desire to be closer to his family in the capital saw him leave at the end of his contract.

He was instrumental for the Reds last season and Fornah will face a tough test as the apprentice tries to embarrass the master.

The 21-year-old has played four times for the League One outfit and has showcased potential under Ryan Lowe’s management.

Watson will represent a tough test for the youngster in what promises to be an intriguing tie for the Reds supporters.
