Nottingham Forest Under-23s won 3-0 at Colchester United last night with Alex Mighten getting the chance to play some football.
The 18-year-old hasn’t played a single minute under Chris Hughton and has been bumped down the pecking order somewhat.
Andy Reid’s team secured the win last night thanks to a brace from the in-form Will Swan and a goal from Ateef Konate.
It was Mighten’s inclusion that perhaps caught the eye though, with some supporters of the opinion that he should be playing.
Given that he was involved with the development squad last night, it seems unlikely that he will be in the 18 against Coventry on Wednesday night.
Mighten has played four times this season, starting the game against Bristol City in Sabri Lamouchi’s last fixture in charge.
In total the teenager has played 15 times for the Reds and looks very much like becoming a real star in the future.
He is quick, skillful and has a superb turn of pace in his locker.
Mighten can be an asset for the Reds and perhaps Hughton has taken him out of the limelight with the results not exactly great at the moment.
Nonetheless, supporters aren’t really in agreement and think Mighten should be closer to the first-team.
Here is a selection of Tweets from supporters regarding Mighten.
