Harry Arter has returned to Nottingham Forest after picking up another minor injury during international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

The 30-year-old was hoping to play against England at Wembley last night but has now returned to the City Ground.

Forest will hope the injury isn’t anything more sinister than a minor knock, with Arter vitally important to Chris Hughton.

The man who won promotion with Fulham last season has already missed a couple of games this season with an ankle injury.

At this stage it is unclear whether or not the latest problem is a recurrence of that problem, or something new.

Arter was introduced as a late substitute in the 2-0 win against Wycombe and but for some good goalkeeping, might have opening his account.

The Reds landed Arter from Bournemouth and his experience could be vital to the team this season.

Hughton will hope it is nothing too serious and that he can feature as quickly as possible.

What next for Arter?

Forest will naturally hope this injury isn’t serious, although the fact he has returned to the club doesn’t bode well.

The Reds return to action at Oakwell next Saturday with Barnsley the opposition.

Arter has sat out the last two games, with Samba Sow and Jack Colback looking pretty decent together in midfield.

With the games set to come thick and fast again, Hughton will hope he can call upon Arter pretty quickly.

Sow has proved that playing every single game is out of the question due to his own fitness issues.

Ryan Yates has done well this season but he’s not really considered the same sort of midfielder as the international performer.

Arter is only six games into his Forest career but he already looks like being an important player.

Hughton will hope for better news ahead of next Saturday’s game.
