Nottingham Forest succumbed to defeat at Oakwell yesterday afternoon as the Tykes ran out 2-0 winners.

In truth, the Reds didn’t deserve to be defeated and Chris Hughton at least saw an improvement in performance levels.

Forest are still languishing near the foot of the Championship and now face a tough run of fixtures against the division’s big hitters.

Following yesterday’s defeat we looked at which three players performed the best for the Reds in South Yorkshire.

Joe Lolley

A timely return to some sort of form for the Forest winger.

Lolley should have broken the deadlock in the first half by Callum Styles blocked his effort which was destined for the net.

The 28-year-old has been out of sorts in recent weeks and Hughton even left him out against Wycombe.

On his day he is a really instrumental figure for the Reds and Hughton will hope this is just the start in a return to form for Lolley.

Scott McKenna

The Scotland international enjoyed another solid showing at the back for Forest.

He is looking every inch like the Reds’ best signings for years and continues to showcase his talents.

McKenna brings balance to the Forest team given that he is left-footed and is striking up a nice partnership with Tobias Figueiredo.

The 24-year-old already looks like money well spent and there will undoubtedly be more to come from the centre-back.

Anthony Knockaert

The on-loan winger deserved an assist to his name for his efforts during his time at Forest.

His teammates didn’t help his chances of claiming one yesterday with some wayward finishing to rob the Frenchman.

The 29-year-old was once again in fine form at Oakwell and is getting better with each passing game.

Knockaert is a player who Forest must continue to get on the ball and they do that goal contributions will surely follow.
