Greek outfit Aris are reportedly eyeing a January move for Nottingham Forest defender Nicholas Ioannou.
According to Greek publication Sports Room, the 25-year-old is ‘under consideration’ by the Thessaloniki-based club, who are keen to strengthen at left-back and in attack.

It is explained that they are not happy with the level of current left-back Christian Ganea, who has struggled to take to Aris’ system since joining the club in August.
In recent weeks they have been using the right-footed Emanuel Sakic, and the desire for the club is to sign a natural left-footer.
It’s also claimed Aris like the idea Ioannou can operate as a central defender.

Supposedly it’s Forest star Ioannou who is top of their wishlist, despite him only arriving at the City Ground in the last transfer window.
Ioannou has made just five appearances for the club and has not had any minutes since picking up that red card against Luton Town on October 28.
He’s missed out on the last four matchday squads for Forest and seems not to be in the plans of Chris Hughton.
Ioannou a strange case
Ioannou has only been at the City Ground for five minutes, but if he makes a move to Aris in January there probably won’t be too many people left surprised.

He may well have more to offer, but the signs appear to be there that Hughton just doesn’t fancy him.
Ioannou could be part of a squad trimming operation so that Hughton can get the players he wants in, which would be a bit of a shame given the glimpses of quality he did show prior to his red card.
