During the summer transfer window, it was reported that Nottingham Forest and Derby County wanted striker Serdar Dursun.
The Mirror (Print Edition; 5/10: page 43) claimed that the Darmstadt talisman was a target for the East Midlands duo.
Nothing came of the interest and Dursun has continued his blistering goalscoring form in the German second tier.

He has managed 10 goals and five assists from his 16 appearances this season, despite a campaign of struggle for Markus Anfang’s team.
Now, it might seem as though Derby have the edge when it comes to signing him during the current transfer window.
At the weekend, he retweeted a post from a Derby County analysis account, detailing his strong attributes this season.
This came on the back of Dursun responding to the Rams on their official Instagram after a recent Jason Knight goal.

The subtle hints perhaps suggest he has his eyes on a move to Pride Park before the month is out.
His form at Darmstadt has been fantastic.
Last season he fired 19 goals to lead his team to fifth in the league, registering six assists too.
Should Forest return to rival the Rams?
It has to be said that the Reds might be wise to give Derby a free run at this deal.
Dursun knows where the back of the net is but ultimately he’d be too much of a risk at 29.
The uncompromising forward has an impressive goalscoring record but in far inferior leagues than the Championship.
Given his age, there would be very little sell-on value with Dursun and certainly, supporters would rather the average age of the squad was lowered.

Forest have Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor competing for a place in attack and Dursun would find first-team football hard to come by.
With that in mind, this doesn’t look like a deal that should be revived by the Reds.
If he does sign for the Rams, however, it’ll be intriguing to see whether he has what it takes to make the grade in English football.
