Nottingham Forest are leading PAOK in the race to sign Benfica playmaker Filip Krovinovic.

According to Greek news outlet To10, the Reds are in the driving seat to land the player who has been on loan at West Brom for 18 months.

Krovinovic has spent last season and the first half of 2020/21 on loan at The Hawthorns.

The appointment of Sam Allardyce, however, has left his Baggies future in question.

With that in mind, Forest are monitoring the deal closely and are preparing to make a loan move of their own.

The Croatian midfielder has made 11 appearances this season, with just five coming in the way of starts.

Allardyce is keen to have some room to sign his own players and Krovinovic could have his loan cancelled.

Last season he scored three goals and registered four assists as West Brom won promotion from the Championship.

Spotrac claims that Krovinovic earns £29,000-a-week and it’d be interesting to see whether Benfica would ask Forest to pay a similar amount.

The 25-year-old has already played 28 times for the Benfica first-team, scoring twice before joining West Brom.

He has also played for NK Zagreb and Rio Ave who took him on loan previously.

Would Krovinovic do the business for Forest?

This is certainly a link that Reds supporters could get excited about.

Forest are in desperate need of a progressive player in the middle of the park and Krovinovic plays the No.8 role exceptionally well.

He might not have superb goal contribution statistics at West Brom last season but they don’t perhaps tell the full story.

He often got the Baggies playing on the front foot and was trusted to play in 40 Championship matches by Slaven Bilic.

If Krovinovic is available, Chris Hughton should prepare to pounce.
