Nottingham Forest were linked with a move for on-loan Celtic defender Shane Duffy this morning much to the dismay of the Reds supporters.

Only a few hours after it surfaced, however, Paul Taylor from The Athletic dismissed the linked with the Brighton-owned centre-back.

Duffy checked in at Celtic Park during the summer and got off to a strong start.

Of late, however, he has regressed and Neil Lennon has preferred other options more recently.

Celtic paid a hefty loan fee and a large chunk of his £40,000-a-week wages to take him on loan but they could send him back this month.

With his future looking bleak at Brighton, another loan surely beckons if he was to head back to the south of England.

It doesn’t look like his next destination will be Nottingham though.

The news that Duffy isn’t on Chris Hughton’s radar has been met with delight by Forest fans who have reacted on Twitter.

It did seem somewhat strange that another centre-back was linked to Forest.

Hughton has Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna, Tobias Figueiredo, Loic Mbe Soh and Michael Dawson at his disposal.

Following an announcement from The Athletic, we looked at what Forest supporters were saying.
