Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton is seeking a loan deal for Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling, according to The Sun on Sunday (page 59).

The central midfielder will be sought as a direct replacement for Ryan Yates who is facing weeks out with a calf problem.

Gosling has started seven games for the Cherries this season but hasn’t featured in Jason Tindall’s team for the last four games.

He has proved a decent addition to the Bournemouth ranks, playing 192 times for the club, scoring 22 goals.

Forest are in desperate need of a lift after yesterday’s 5-1 thrashing at Swansea City.

The Reds were beaten emphatically, with many of the club’s fringe players struggling to make an impact.

As a result of yesterday’s horror show, Hughton looks set to dip into the transfer market once again.

The club added Filip Krovinovic from Benfica on Friday and now Hughton looks set to make another deal.

Gosling is out of contract in the summer and the article states that he may seek to leave the Vitality Stadium permanently this month.

Gosling has enjoyed a decent career and also boasts Newcastle and Everton on his CV.

Forest’s injury problems are mounting in midfield.

Yates joins Jack Colback and Harry Arter in the treatment room in what looks like a big blow for Forest.

Is Gosling a good signing for Forest?

He certainly looks like an attractive signing on paper.

With 15 appearances for the Cherries this season he won’t need much time to get up to speed at the City Ground.

Gosling has enjoyed a decent career and has 184 Premier League appearances to his name.

Hughton’s team needs a lift and a player with the experience of Gosling could be ideal.

A permanent deal would almost certainly work better for Forest – if they can come to an arrangement with Gosling over wages.

He earns £35,000-a-week at Bournemouth and it’s unlikely Forest will get close to that.

Hughton currently has five loan players in his ranks and another would mean that one misses out on the matchday squad each week.

Forest do need some reinforcements and someone like Gosling could certainly help the team.
