Report shares why Dan Gosling has snubbed Nottingham Forest move

Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling has rejected the chance to sign for Nottingham Forest permanently, according to the Daily Echo.

We cited reports a few hours ago that claimed the maestro was nearing a City Ground switch.

Things move quickly in January, however, and Gosling has now performed a u-turn, choosing to fight for his place instead.

The 30-year-old was signed by Chris Hughton during his time at Newcastle United in 2010, moving from Everton.

Forest were keen to strengthen their ranks with the experienced performer but now a deal looks to be off.

The Reds have five loan players already in their ranks and adding another one would mean one player missing out on the matchday squad.

Given the decision made by Gosling it looks like being a case of back to the drawing board for Forest.

Hughton will have hoped to strengthen his midfield ranks before the deadline.

Ryan Yates, Harry Arter and Jack Colback are all nursing injuries at the moment, with midfield options restricted.

Gosling is out of contract in the summer and having only played a peripheral part this season, his decision might not be the wisest.

Bournemouth have signed Jack Wilshere this month and are also nearing a deal to sign Preston marvel Ben Pearson.

Where does this leave Forest?

Ultimately it leaves the club with some work still to do.

With Samba Sow and Cafu the only natural midfield options currently available, Hughton will hope to get someone in.

With just a few days left of the window, however, the chances do look relatively slim.

Forest will need to act quickly and it will remain to be seen whether anyone does come in.

A quick glance at social media suggested plenty of Reds supporters didn’t really fancy him anyway and it might not prove to be too much of a blow for Forest.
