Nottingham Forest drew 0-0 with Barnsley yesterday and shortly after James Garner checked in from Manchester United.

The 19-year-old joins on loan for the remainder of the campaign having seen his temporary stint with Watford terminated.

Garner made 20 Championship appearances for the Hornets during the first half of the 2020/21 campaign.

He had fallen out of favour under Xisco Munez, however, and now joins Chris Hughton’s ranks.

Garner’s arrival could be timely after Samba Sow hobbled out of the action yesterday with an ankle injury.

He looks set to make his debut for the Reds on Tuesday when Forest make the short trip to face Coventry City.

It’s a timely boost for the Reds who once again looked devoid of ideas during yesterday’s goalless draw.

Garner is a forward-thinking midfielder who can spray passes about and get the team up the pitch quicker.

Forest dropped a place in the Championship yesterday and need to start winning games quickly.

The hope will be that Garner can come in and hit the ground running, with more signings expected before tomorrow’s deadline.

Following his arrival at Forest, Manchester United fans were keen to congratulate the youngster on his latest loan move.

Here is what supporters of the Red Devils were saying.
