Manchester United midfielder James Garner could make his debut for Nottingham Forest tonight after joining on loan.
The Reds moved quickly to sign the youngster after his Watford loan was terminated.
He featured 20 times during the first half of the campaign and Forest fans will hope he can make an impact.
For any supporter wondering what we can expect from the midfielder, an interview with United star Juan Mata could be telling.
Back in the summer, the Spaniard spoke to United’s official website shortly after Garner had joined the Hornets.
Mata, who signed for United for £37 million in 2014, had some high praise for the teenager.
He told the club’s website: “I always thought he was one of the players who, if he keeps going and keeps improving, in the way he was doing in the academy, he can be a very, very good midfielder.
“I really like him; the way he plays the ball, his cleverness, his way of looking forward, looking for a pass and also his attitude off the ball.
“Whenever he was here, I always tried to encourage him and said what I believed he could be as a player.”
Can Garner be a City Ground hit?
It will certainly be interesting to see what Garner can do for Forest.
Mata suggesting that he likes to look forward and pick passes out can only bode well for the Reds.
Forest have struggled desperately with their midfield axis this season, with each option in Chris Hughton’s ranks very similar.
Garner could provide that little spark that is required in the engine room.
Forest need wins quickly and they could desperately do with the United youngster hitting the ground running.
If Garner can prove Mata right with his high praise then Hughton might have struck gold with his January addition.
