Two Nottingham Forest targets enjoyed games to remember for their respective League One clubs over the weekend.

Both Luke Jephcott and Joe Pigott were named alongside each other in the Team of the Week for the third tier.

Pigott was linked with a move to the Reds as the transfer window ticked towards a close.

He netted twice for AFC Wimbledon as they claimed an important three points against relegation rivals Wigan Athletic.

The win saw the club edge out of the relegation zone and offered optimism of ensuring survival.

Jephcott was also at the double for Plymouth Argyle.

He fired a brace for Ryan Lowe’s team who were forced to settle for a draw against Portsmouth.

Jephcott’s second looked to have given the Pilgrims all three points but a double salvo three minutes from time saw Pompey claim a point.

Both players are likely to remain targets for the Reds going into the summer.

Pigott will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign and could seek a Championship move.

The 27-year-old now has 16 goals to his name this season and probably won’t be short of suitors.

Jephcott is a younger option and one who is likely to cost around £3.5 million – according to his boss, Lowe.

The 21-year-old has plunged 16 goals in League One during 2020/21 and looks set for a bright future.

Forest have Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor under contract for next season.

With both players in their thirties, a younger option will probably be targeted in the summer.

Both Pigott and Jephcott are going great guns in League One and would make decent additions to the City Ground ranks.
