Nottingham Forest could face competition from no fewer than seven clubs for Luke Jephcott – including Derby County.

The Rams are keen to bolster their firepower in the summer and have entered the race, along with Stoke City and Sheffield Wednesday.

Jephcott has scored 18 goals this season and The Sun are claiming that the race to sign him is set to heat up.

Ryan Lowe was adamant that Jephcott wouldn’t be sold during January and stayed true to his word.

It does seem unlikely, however, that he’ll be able to keep the youngster from a move to the Championship during the summer.

Boss Lowe claimed it might take £3.5 million to land Jephcott and that could spark a mad scramble when the window reopens.

At 21-years-old, the player looks set for a bright future and there’s little surprise to see him linked with several second-tier sides.

Plymouth are going well in League One and the striker could comfortably reach 25 goals during 2020/21.

If he does, the Pilgrims could be well within their rights to demand more for their prized asset.

Can Forest compete for Jephcott?

It’s fair to say the club can certainly be in the running but they might have to move quickly to land him.

With other clubs emerging as interested parties, the Reds will need to make sure they give themselves the best possible chance.

Forest can’t afford to mess around with this one and if they want Jephcott they need to go and get him.

Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor are both in their thirties and another striker is likely to be sought in the summer.

There’s no reason why that talisman can’t be the Wales under-21 man – but they’ll need to act quickly when the window opens.
