Manchester United are the latest club to be monitoring former Nottingham Forest starlet Anel Ahmedhodzic.

According to J Footeux, the Red Devils are keen to land the uncompromising central defender during the summer.

It is claimed that United are willing to pay £11 million for Ahmedhodzic.

The talented 21-year-old was tipped for big things at the City Ground but managed just six minutes of first-team action.

They came in a 3-1 defeat at Newcastle in 2016 when Philippe Montainer was in charge.

He returned home to Sweden in 2018, citing a desire to return closer to his roots and signed for Malmo.

Since joining he has gone from strength to strength and is now viewed as one of Europe’s most sought-after youngsters.

United are flying in the Premier League this season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has really got them playing well.

If there’s one area of concern for the manager, however, it perhaps comes in defence.

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have both had erratic moments and signing Ahmodhodzic would add some competition.

The talented defender has only played 43 games for Malmo but is busy making some waves in Swedish football.

Atalanta, Manchester City and AC Milan have all been linked with a move for the youngster previously.

Will Forest regret Ahmedhodzic situation?

It certainly looks as though he can play and perhaps more opportunities should have come his way.

That said, he did have a desire to go home and be closer to his family and when a young player has that mindset it’s a difficult situation.

Whether the starlet would have held the same desire had he been a regular in the Forest first-team remain to be seen.

If he does head to the Premier League, it’ll be extremely interesting to see how he takes to life in the top-flight.
