Nottingham Forest gem Marcus McGuane has returned to the club from his loan spell with Oxford United.

The U’s confirmed on their official website that the youngster’s thigh problem is worse than first feared.

McGuane has made good progress but after further scans it has emerged that a 12-week rehabilitation period is required.

That means his season is over and the ex-Arsenal player will start his recovery with Forest.

The 22-year-old leaves the Kassam Stadium having made 20 appearances for the League One club.

After spells with the Arsenal and Barcelona youth ranks he is hotly-tipped to make the City Ground grade.

McGuane actually made two appearances at the Emirates Stadium, with Arsene Wenger a big fan of his quality.

The central midfielder registered four assists during his time at the club and largely did well.

Supporters are certainly sad to see McGuane suffer a pretty serious injury and have reacted on Twitter.

Both Oxford fans and Forest supporters have taken to Twitter to respond to McGuane’s heartfelt post.

It would seem Oxford will miss him strutting his stuff for their club, whilst Reds supporters hope to see him in action for Forest next season.

Here is a look at what both sets of fans were saying regarding the midfield maestro.
