Nottingham Forest star Anthony Knockaert has sent Connor Goldson a congratulatory message after Rangers clinched the Scottish Premiership title.

The Gers were handed their first title for 10 years on Sunday as Celtic were held to a 0-0 draw by Dundee United.

Goldson was on the books at Brighton when Knockaert was there and the pair have played together previously.

The centre-back has been a rock in Steven Gerrard’s team this season.

Rangers are still unbeaten in the Premiership and the Europa League, with the boss doing a sterling job at Ibrox.

After the title was confirmed for Rangers the Forest winger replied to Goldson on Instagram.

Knockaert and Goldson have experienced contrasting campaigns during 2020/21.

As Goldson rejoices at helping Rangers claim their first league title for 10 years, Knockaert is still scrapping to help Forest avoid League One.

The Reds were beaten 1-0 by Watford yesterday and worryingly, failed to register a single shot on target.

Knockaert agreed a permanent £10 million transfer from Brighton to Fulham during the summer.

The 29-year-old helped the Cottagers to the Premier League last season but wasn’t deemed part of Scott Parker’s plans for 2020/21.

He was Chris Hughton’s first signing when he checked in at Forest, joining on loan.

Knockaert had his deal extended in January and will now remain at the club for the remainder of the campaign.

The trickster has divided opinion among the fan base but his quality has been evident.

His delivery into the box is largely brilliant and but for some wayward finishing he’d be sat on far more assists.

It will be interesting to see if Forest can strike a permanent deal for the player and that could depend on Fulham’s fate.

In the short-term, Knockaert will hope to avoid relegation with the Reds this season.
