Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba has been nominated for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for February.

The stopper enjoyed a solid month, keeping three clean sheets for the Reds.

Samba edged back to his best during the month but will face some stiff competition to win the award.

Norwich duo Teemu Pukki and Emi Buendia are nominated, whilst Kieffer Moore, Conor Hourihane and Charlie Austin are also up for the accolade.

Forest’s form in February has given them a bit of a cushion to the relegation zone.

A poor start to March has plunged them back into a bit of bother, however, and the Reds will be keen to claim a few more wins.

Samba has overcome some poor form to roar back into form at the City Ground.

The 26-year-old has been a pretty solid addition since checking in from Caen for £1.8 million in the summer of 2019.

In 78 outings for Forest, he has kept 26 clean sheets; with 11 of those coming during a pretty average 2020/21 campaign.

Samba winning the award would be justified and supporters are urged to go online and place their vote for the custodian.

Are Forest in safe hands with Samba?

It has to be said that he’s an exceptional goalkeeper and it’s an area which Forest don’t need to spend too much time on in the summer.

Jordan Smith has acted as backup and perhaps at some point he will head out to play regular first-team football.

Forest would probably welcome some better competition for Samba. It’s fair to say, however, when he is in form there are few better in the Championship.

The Congolese stopper is steady between the posts and as a result, he should continue as Chris Hughton’s number one next season.

Should Samba be Forest’s first choice next season?
