Nottingham Forest player Yuri Ribeiro has told the club’s official YouTube channel that Barcelona star Jodia Alba is the left-back he enjoys watching the most.
The £14 million Spaniard has been with Barca for nine years and played the full 90 minutes of last night’s 1-1 draw with PSG.
Ribeiro has been the first choice left-back in Forest’s team for a large amount of the time under Chris Hughton.
He didn’t feature at Watford last week but could return when Reading arrive at the City Ground on Saturday.
Ahead of this weekend’s clash he was quizzed by the club’s media team who put questions from supporters to the Portuguese player.
One question asked him which left-back in world football he enjoyed watching the most. Ribeiro chose the man with 70 caps for Spain.
He told the club’s YouTube channel: “Jordi Alba. I like him, he’s a very smart player, he’s very fast and he has a lot of energy. I like him a lot.”
Alba has proved a quality player over the years for Barca.
He has made 372 appearances for the Catalans giants, winning five La Liga titles and a Champions League crown.
Alba also helped Spain to the European Championships in 2012.
He earns £155,000-a-week at the Nou Camp and is viewed by many as the best left-back in world football.
What does the future hold for Ribeiro?
Forest will probably have to confirm their Championship status for next season before any contract decisions are made.
Ribeiro will see his deal expire in the summer and the 24-year-old faces an anxious wait over an extension.
With Gaetan Bong and Tyler Blackett both flattering to deceive, handed Ribeiro an extension wouldn’t be a bad thing.
During his two seasons with the club he has proved a decent acquisition, making 53 appearances for the Reds.
Forest fans have taken to Ribeiro and it’s probably fair to say he’s done enough during his time at the club to earn a new deal.
