Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley has confirmed his worst fears on Instagram regarding his injury.

The 28-year-old hobbled off on Saturday and pulling up and clutching his hamstring in the 34th minute.

He was replaced by Anthony Knockaert and looked in considerable pain as he left the field of play.

Now, he has taken to Instagram too confirm that he will be missing for the remainder of the campaign.

It’s a blow to Lolley who was just starting to get into his stride on Saturday after a season of frustration at the City Ground.

After making an emotional post to the club’s supporters, he received some words of support from former Reds star Jamie Paterson.

Paterson made 69 appearances for Forest in total, scoring 14 goals and claiming 15 assists for the team.

He struggled to pin down a regular place in the team and ultimately left in search of that.

Now at Bristol City he has established himself as a proven Championship performer.

For Lolley the hard work begins now as he places on eye on the 2021/22 campaign and getting himself ready.

The Reds do have some options to replace him and Chris Hughton will have to shuffle his pack accordingly.

Can any good come out of this injury?

Well actually it probably could.

Lolley has struggled with compartment syndrome in his shin for some time now and having a thorough rest could be good.

With the short pre-season ahead of the current campaign, the Forest star has struggled to get going during 2020/21.

He’s tried his best when called upon but has often looked off the pace with regards to his niggling injury problems.

On his day he is a match-winner at Championship level and with a proper recovery program, he could really catch fire once again next season.
