Nottingham Forest star Joe Lolley has provided a positive update on his Instagram after collecting a hamstring injury last week.

The 28-year-old hobbled off clutching the back of his leg during a 1-1 draw with Reading.

It appears as though surgery was required, with Lolley now confirming that his operation has been completed.

The winger can now look ahead to his rehab, although this would seemingly ensure that he won’t play again this season.

Forest claimed a 1-1 draw at Brentford yesterday, with Alex Mighten taking his opportunity to impress.

The Reds do have options in the wide areas and perhaps Lolley picking up his injury could provide a strange positive.

Devastating on his day, the ex-Huddersfield man has struggled to shake off niggling fitness problems this season.

As a result, his form has suffered. With Lolley set to miss the last eight games, he will have every chance of coming back to pre-season fully fit and refreshed.

Lolley has scored just one goal and registered three assists this season. During 2019/20 he scored 10 goals and claimed nine assists.

The Forest wizard has suffered with compartment syndrome in his shin and this break could allow him to address that too.

Lolley is under contract at the City Ground next season and on his day, he’s a superb player.

The challenge for Chris Hughton is to work with the player during the off season and get him back to his best.

A fit and firing Lolley is still one of the Championship’s best performers and supporters will hope to see his quality next season.
