Welsh media rave about Nottingham Forest gem Brennan Johnson after international cameo

Nottingham Forest gem Brennan Johnson came on for 25 minutes as Wales defeated Mexico 1-0 on Saturday.

The youngster collected his second cap for the national team as they claimed a victory in Cardiff.

Johnson has been in fine form during 2020/21 during a loan spell with Lincoln City.

He has found the net eight times and registered 12 assists during the campaign, with the Imps in the promotion picture.

Following his tidy performance as a substitute last night, the country’s media passed comment.

According to Wales Online, he was given 5/10 for his substitute performance.

The comments read: “Lincoln youngster, on loan from Nottingham Forest, put himself about.”

Johnson has showcased his ability in a number of positions during 2020/21.

He has played as a striker, in the No.10 role and on both flanks during his time with the League One outfit.

That will provide Forest with some options for next season and he could solve their creative struggles.

Chris Hughton might place more emphasis on youth next season and Johnson has to get more minutes.

Johnson deserves proper chance

The youngster has eight first-team appearances to his name for the Reds.

That can hardly be considered a proper chance to flourish and his form this season should earn him one during 2021/22.

Forest have taken on the transfer strategy of signing lots of players for this season, with zero success.

Next season, Hughton could make minor changes and that could bode well for the likes of Johnson.

He has really caught the eye in League One and his youthful exuberance could give Forest a real injection of energy.

Hughton simply has to call on Johnson during 2021/22.
