Nottingham Forest travel to Cardiff City this afternoon looking for a return to winning ways.

The Reds were vastly improved against Brentford last time out, leaving London with a point following a 1-1 draw.

It is, however, six games without a win for the Reds and Chris Hughton knows his team still needs points on the board.

Ahead of today’s trip to Wales, we looked at the team which Hughton could select.

In goal and back four

Brice Samba should be completely over his recent fitness problems and keep his place in the Forest goal.

At right-back Cyrus Christie did okay for Ireland in the week and he will play.

Gaetan Bong is rated doubtful so that could open the door for Yuri Ribeiro to return to the team.

At centre-back, Hughton could be faced with a dilemma.

Scott McKenna played 20 minutes for Scotland on Wednesday and it’ll be interesting to see if he plays or not.

Given the quick turnaround time, Hughton could go with Loic Mbe Soh to partner Tobias Figueiredo.

Joe Worrall is still injured.

Midfield

Provided they are both fit and ready to play, it’s hard to look past the pairing of James Garner and Cafu.

Both were outstanding against Brentford last time out and appear to have developed a real understanding with each other.

Ryan Yates will be in contention also.

Both he and Fouad Bachirou could have to settle for places on the bench.

In attack

Anthony Knockaert didn’t feature against the Bees and he could be in line for a start this afternoon.

Alex Mighten did well on the opposite flank at Brentford and that could earn him another chance to impress.

Filip Krovinovic scored Forest’s equaliser last time out and should start the game at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Upfront, Hughton might hand Lyle Taylor a chance to shine.

He scored three times in two games for Montserrat and his confidence will be sky high.

Here is how the Forest team could look in today’s game:
