Nottingham Forest beat QPR 3-1 at the City Ground yesterday to make it six points over the Easter weekend.
After wins over Cardiff on Friday and against the R’s yesterday, two players have been named in the Who Scored Team of the Week.
It’s perhaps no surprise to see James Garner selected. He scored in both games over the weekend to take his tally to three in Forest colours.
His overall play has been outstanding and the fact he’s now adding goals should see the youngster’s stock soar even more.
The other Forest player is someone who has worked hard to improve in recent months.
Cyrus Christie copped a lot of flak earlier in the season but since the turn of the year he’s been brilliant.
Against Cardiff he was solid at both ends of the pitch and he carried that form on yesterday.
His lung-busting run with the ball provided the catalyst for Lewis Grabban to make it 2-0 and he was steady throughout.
Forest now have 48 points and some will feel they are home and hosed in their quest to secure survival.
Rotherham in the final relegation place do have four games in hand but are now 13 points adrift of Forest.
Hughton takes his team to Bristol City next Saturday and three points there should make it completely secure.
What next for Garner and Christie?
Well for Garner it will be a case of returning to Manchester United for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to run the rule over him.
If he does decide to loan him out again, the Red Devils will surely want him to taste Premier League action.
If an offer from the top-flight isn’t forthcoming, Forest will surely register their interest.
As for Christie he is out of contract at Fulham and might be available on a free.
The Cottagers do hold an option to extend and they might activate that and recoup a transfer fee for his services.
It would be a big decision over Christie.
He is likely to be on a decent wage at Fulham. With Carl Jenkinson and Jordan Gabriel at the club, Hughton will have to assess his options.
For now, both players will hope to finish the season as strongly as possible with the Reds.
