With Nottingham Forest struggling for creativity and goals in their 0-0 draw at Bristol City, the performance of Siriki Dembele wouldn’t have gone unnoticed.

The Peterborough United left winger shone as Posh swept aside Swindon Town, scoring two goals in a blistering 3-0 win.

Dembele also got Man of the Match for his efforts, as per WhoScored, while the result nudges Peterborough closer to a first Championship return since 2013.

However, while Peterborough may well go up, Dembele’s future is less certain and Forest could pounce.

It’s no secret that Dembele has been a target for Forest, with interest being made public by Peterborough in January.

Barry Fry, Posh’s Director of Football, revealed that Forest offered them Tyler Walker in exchange for Dembele, but this was rejected.

However, Dembele is out of contract at the end of the season and it has been reported that because of financial setbacks, Peterborough can only offer him a new deal if they get promoted.

Given that teams such as Celtic (where his cousin Karamoko plays), Newcastle United and Rangers have also been linked in addition to Forest and Fulham, promotion alone may not be enough to keep him at London Road.

As such, Forest need to act and to act quick.

Dembele has 12 goals and 10 assists in 41 games across all competitions this season, which are mightily impressive figures for a left winger.

It’s unlikely that he’d want to be in a relegation battle next year and it’s also very feasible that Forest can offer better wages than Peterborough.

Now Forest basically have their Championship status secured, they are in a position where they can try and get things moving in relation to Dembele.

They will have to act quickly, but if they can land him, he would be an ideal solution to their creative woes – and wouldn’t cost anything.

Would you sign Siriki Dembele for Nottingham Forest?
