Back in the summer, Forest were linked with Birmingham City striker Lukas Jutkiewicz as the Reds looked to beef up their attacking arsenal.
A move never came to fruition and Chris Hughton must now plot a way to stop the former target.
Jutkiewicz enjoys scoring against the Reds too. There are only four clubs he’s scored more goals against during his whole career.
The Reds must be wary of the uncompromising talisman this evening and come up with a plan of attack to stop him.
During 2019/20, Jutkiewicz scored 15 goals for the Blues and it didn’t seem a bad link for Forest at the time.
The Reds had added Lyle Taylor in the weeks before the links emerged but sought more firepower.
Jutkiewicz has seen his form fizzle out a little bit this season. The 32-year-old has found the net on five occasions and registered three assists.
What he does bring to teams is a different option though and both Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna will need to watch him tonight.
Jutkiewicz has been a regular starter since Lee Bowyer replaced Aitor Karanka, scoring twice in a 2-0 win over Stoke recently.
His record against Forest is pretty steady too. In 15 games against the Reds he has scored four goals.
The former Burnley man has only scored more throughout his whole career against Leeds, Ipswich and Derby (Transfermarkt).
Forest are still probably a point shy of the target to guarantee their Championship survival for this season.
Not losing tonight should see the Reds over the line and guarantee their status as a second tier club for next season.
Whether they can do that or not, however, will largely depend on keeping Jutkiewicz quiet.
