Brennan Johnson is valued by Nottingham Forest at around £10 million, according to The Athletic, with Burnley, Brentford and two other top-flight clubs interested.

The talented teenager has been in fine form during a loan spell with Lincoln City during 2020/21.

Johnson has scored 12 goals and claimed 12 assists during the campaign, with Michael Appleton’s men in the hunt for promotion.

Burnley’s interest in Johnson comes as no surprise whatsoever.

Sean Dyche is regularly linked with Forest players and the Clarets have been mentioned in the running to sign Joe Worrall too.

Forest’s valuation of Johnson is likely to be protected in the short-term. With just two years on his contract, however, a new deal will be needed to preserve it.

The Reds simply can’t sell Johnson. He’s done everything the club has asked of him and now deserves a Forest chance.

His eight first-team outings for Forest so far have largely come from the bench. He is far more polished now and has worked hard on his game at Lincoln.

Johnson has largely played on the flanks on loan but he has recently showcased his skills as a No.10.

The versatility should help him hold down a place in Chris Hughton’s team and it’ll be interesting to see where he fits in.

Should Forest give Johnson a new deal?

If there is one job the club must get done this summer it’s extending Johnson’s stay at the City Ground.

The club simply can’t let anymore time run down on his two remaining years at the club and must act now.

Johnson looks the real deal and he really couldn’t have done anymore during his time at Lincoln this season.

He’s scored a dozen goals, largely from wide areas and has been mightily impressive in Appleton’s setup.

Forest’s squad could take on a whole new complexion next season and Johnson should be at the forefront of Hughton’s plans.
