Luke Freeman looks to have played his final game for Nottingham Forest after picking up an injury against Stoke last week.
The on-loan performer has been ruled out of the final two games of the campaign by boss Chris Hughton.
Freeman has been on a season-long stint from Sheffield United but now looks set to return to Bramall Lane.
His injury has curtailed his season, with Hughton telling his pre-match press conference that his campaign is over.
He said: “Luke Freeman will miss both of these games.
“He came off against Stoke with a knock and it’s a very minor strain he’s picked up, but it’s likely to rule him out for three weeks.”
Freeman has struggled with injuries and inconsistency during his time at the City Ground.
When he checked in during the summer transfer window, it seemed like a decent addition to the ranks.
The 29-year-old has made 25 appearances during 2020/21, registering just one goal contribution which came earlier in the season against Bristol City.
Freeman will now return to the Blades and help them plot a pathway back to the Premier League during next season.
Has Freeman been a Forest hit?
To put it simply, no, he hasn’t.
Freeman has been unfortunate with injuries but he’s not looked fit and has been badly out of sorts.
The Reds must strive for better loan signings in the summer if they are to make an impact in the higher echelons of the division next season.
Freeman is a proven Championship performer but for whatever reason, his time at the club just hasn’t quite worked out.
Hughton hasn’t seemingly fancied him when he’s been fit and it looks unlikely that he’ll be back on Trentside next season.
