Nottingham Forest defender Cyrus Christie has been named in the Who Scored Championship Team of the Month for April.

The on-loan Fulham right-back enjoyed a decent month for the Reds as they guaranteed safety from relegation.

Christie claimed his third assist of the campaign during April and produced some fine performances in Chris Hughton’s team.

The 28-year-old has been a slow burner of a signing in the red of Forest. He took several months to really get going but has been impressive since the turn of the year.

According to Who Scored, Christie made 22 tackles and interceptions and finished the month with a rating of 7.14.

Christie began the season as an unused substitute as Fulham lost 3-0 to Arsenal on the opening day of the season.

A week later he signed for Forest and has played in every game since arriving at the City Ground.

One aspect that didn’t help Christie early doors was stepping into Matty Cash’s boots. Whoever had the task of replacing the academy starlet was always going to have a struggle on their hands.

As the games progressed though so too did Christie. Since the turn of the year he’s improved no end, with his game becoming more polished.

Should Forest sign Christie?

It has to be said that it would be a surprise.

Forest won’t be blessed with a huge bounty of cash and with Carl Jenkinson and the returning Jordan Gabriel in the squad, a right-back might not be a necessity.

Christie is on decent money at Fulham and Forest might choose to focus their attentions on strengthening other areas of the squad.

At 28, Christie might not fit the profile of what Forest will search for in the summer.

Younger players could be sought and perhaps the 28-cap defender won’t be signed on a permanent basis.

On the whole he has proved a decent player during the second half of the campaign and for that he deserves credit.
