Diogo Goncalves has been named as the Breakout Player of the Year for Benfica and Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting on Twitter.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a solid campaign under Jorge Jesus, playing 29 times and chipping in with eight goal contributions.

Perhaps the highlight of his season came during a Europa League clash with Arsenal. His scrumptious free-kick proved in vain, however, as the Gunners won 3-2.

Goncalves only made 10 appearances for the Reds during a loan spell covering the 2018/19 campaign.

He started the first game of the campaign but then failed to make the starting eleven again all season.

Chances came at a premium and naturally the club opted not to sign the player on a permanent basis.

It’s perhaps intriguing among Forest fans that Goncalves has kicked on after earning a chance with the Portuguese giants.

Last season he spent time on loan with Famalicao scoring seven goals and claiming 10 assists from 34 appearances.

Following news of his recent award, supporters have been reacting on Twitter and here is what the Forest fans have been saying.
