Nottingham Forest gem Tyrese Fornah has named three players that he hopes to draw inspiration from ahead of next season.

The youngster has spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Plymouth and he’s told The Athletic that he now hopes to get a Forest chance.

Fornah played 44 times for the Pilgrims and on Sunday, Ryan Lowe chose to play him at centre-back.

The academy graduate still performed well and on the whole, it’s proved a successful loan spell for the youngster.

Now, he’s made a defiant stance regarding his future and hopes to emulate one former Forest star and two of the current crop.

He told The Athletic: “I believe in my ability and I know the next step for me is to play in the Championship, hopefully.

“I have come a long way this season. It’s been brilliant. I believe it will make the same difference for me (as it did for the likes of Worrall, Yates and Cash.

“I don’t hope – I believe it – I am very confidence in my own ability. In pre-season, I feel that I will be ready to take that next opportunity and earn a place to play in the Championship.”

Does Fornah deserve a Forest chance?

Well, one thing in his favour is a distinct lack of central midfielders in place at the City Ground.

With James Garner returning to Manchester United, Chris Hughton’s options have been restricted.

Harry Arter and Jack Colback are way down the pecking order, leaving Ryan Yates and Cafu as the only real options in the middle of the park.

Fornah showcased another string to his bow by playing at centre-back on Saturday and that versatility could also help him.

Hughton will surely want to lower the average age of the squad during his squad overhaul in the summer.

With that in mind, he really doesn’t have anything to lose by giving Fornah a chance to prove himself.
