Manchester United starlet James Garner signed for Nottingham Forest in January and enjoyed a quality loan spell at the City Ground.
He joined on an initial six-month loan deal with Chris Hughton bolstering his midfield ranks.
It’s fair to say that Garner quickly became a favourite in the eyes of the club’s supporters – but his arrival wasn’t met with such admiration.
Plenty of Forest fans weren’t overly keen on the club signing Garner. Some viewed it as nonsensical when the club has a glowing academy themselves.

Given that Watford were letting him cut short a six-month loan, some people felt as though he didn’t have the required quality to improve Forest.
How wrong those people have proved to be. Garner has showcased real quality and now fans are demanding he is re-signed for next season.
In 20 appearances, the United youngster scored four goals. It was perhaps his other attributes that caught the eye though, with his passing radar particularly impressive.
Now the dust is settling on his loan spell, we looked back at some of the supporter comments from when Garner first checked in.
It’s fair to say some have been made to eat their words by the 20-year-old Manchester United talent.
Shambolic recruitment that Forest. Money wasted time after time. All we needed was two to three quality players in the summer with a few from the academy. But who sanctioned 14 new below average players 🤷🏼♂️

The end
Couldn’t agree more. Loan players aren’t going to care for the club as much either.🙄

Watford fans can’t wait to see the back of him either. Which is not filling me with optimism about him.
