Nottingham Forest will go in search of several new players during the summer – and supporters have identified Alex Mowatt as a potential target.

The Barnsley captain was brilliant last night, despite his team slipping to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Swansea during the first leg of their play-off semi-final.

Mowatt has led by example during the current season and in the summer he will become a free agent.

Right now, a new contract offer hasn’t been forthcoming at Oakwell and plenty of clubs will be snooping around.

The 26-year-old came through the Leeds United ranks, playing 125 games for the first team, scoring 13 goals.

Next came a 34 game spell with Oxford before he arrived at Barnsley in 2018.

He’s quickly become a fan favourite in South Yorkshire, playing 160 times for the Reds.

Forest will be short of central midfielders ahead of next season and reinforcements are definitely required.

After his performance for Barnsley during last night, plenty of fans think he’s the ideal player to come into the Forest ranks.

Here is what some supporters were saying after Mowatt’s dominant display against the Swans at Oakwell.
