Nottingham Forest gem Brennan Johnson will head to Wembley for the League One play-off final as Lincoln emerged victorious from a semi-final with Sunderland.

Afterwards, he received some praise from none other than Manchester United legend David Beckham.

Johnson is managed by a group led by the ex-England captain, with Newcastle youngster Stan Flaherty also on Beckham’s books.

The 20-year-old Forest talent will now hope to plot the downfall of Blackpool in next Sunday’s final at the national stadium.

Johnson has found the net 13 times and claimed 13 assists this season, with supporters excited over what he might bring to Forest next season.

Following his performance during Saturday’s play-off clash, Beckham sent a six-word post to Johnson on Instagram.

It promises to be a really exciting time for Johnson. Forest fans certainly can’t wait to see what he is capable of in the Championship next season.

The gem has eight appearances to his name at the City Ground. It’s fair to say he’s been used sparingly though and a proper chance hasn’t been forthcoming.

Johnson has been a breath of fresh air under Michael Appleton’s wing. He has showcased that he can play in a number of positions and has set League One alight.

Forest are unlikely to make as many signings as the 16 they made last summer – and that could hand a chance to several youngsters.

Johnson’s chance is long overdue and his form this season suggests he can be a quality player in the next coming years.

Under Beckham’s wing, the Forest man couldn’t ask for a better ex-player to provide guidance and hopefully the Reds – and Johnson can benefit in the future.
