Nottingham Forest target Emiliano Marcondes fired Brentford to the Premier League but then made an admission over his future.

The midfielder is out of contract in the summer and hasn’t agreed a deal with the Bees for next season.

Marcondes scored the second goal in a 2-0 win at Wembley Stadium yesterday, as Thomas Frank’s team beat Swansea 2-0.

The 26-year-old is a solid performer and Brentford must now decide whether to keep him or not.

Forest have been linked with a move for the player, along with QPR. Marcondes concedes he has no idea what will happen next season.

Speaking after the famous win for Brentford, the midfielder told the Daily Mail: “I have been hoping and waiting for a new contract for a long time.

“I have kept my concentration on the training pitch and to focus on what I can control.

“I can’t control a new contract. Of course, I hope to play in the Premier League, it’s my biggest dream.”

Marcondes has been at Brentford since January 2019. During 2020/21 he scored three times and claimed three assists from his 40 outings.

Forest will go in search of new players during the summer and it’s perhaps no surprise they fancy the Bees performer.

Yesterday’s promotion for Brentford could complicate things though.

He will almost certainly want to stay at the club and after scoring yesterday, a new contract will surely be forthcoming.

Could Forest pounce for Marcondes?

Feasibly they could and he’d be a shrewd free agent to say the least.

It does, however, seem unlikely following Brentford’s promotion yesterday.

Surely the Bees will now hand him a new deal and it’s likely that he would accept such an offer.

Forest would certainly welcome a player like the Danish midfielder in their ranks though.

This summer is going to be a busy one for the Reds and Marcondes would be a stunning piece of business.
