Nottingham Forest right-back Jordan Gabriel has summer interest from Blackpool and Portsmouth, according to The Mirror.

The 22-year-old helped the Tangerines back into the Championship with a 2-1 win over Lincoln in the League One play-off final.

Now, the academy graduate has interest from other clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Forest fans shouldn’t be worried though. It is claimed that Chris Hughton is keen to take a look at the defender with a view to giving him a chance.

Cyrus Christie has returned to Fulham for next season, whilst Carl Jenkinson has been told he is free to leave this summer.

Gabriel’s game came on leaps and bounds last season. He made 35 appearances for the League One outfit and shone under Neil Critchley.

He showcased his ability to play as part of a flat back four or on the right as a wing-back.

That versatility could help Hughton when it comes to mixing things up during 2021/22.

Gabriel has made a few outings for the Forest firt-team, without ever earning a proper chance.

Now should be his time though. He has been out on loan and after graduating the through the academy he has earned his stripes.

Gabriel deserves Forest chance

The Reds will sign some players in the summer but a right-back perhaps doesn’t need to be one of them.

Gabriel and Jayden Richardson are more than capable and both could earn a chance in pre-season.

Forest might have to be careful with regards to spending. With that in mind, they must carefully choose which areas to strengthen.

Gabriel has showcased his talents out on loan and he could be the sort of player who could save Forest millions in the market.
