Academy graduate Ryan Yates has made a major prediction about Nottingham Forest star Joe Lolley ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

The central midfielder has taken to Instagram to snap the winger as he steps up his recovery.

Lolley missed the final 10 games of the 2020/21 campaign after tearing his hamstring against Reading.

He hobbled off the field during the 1-1 draw and wasn’t seen again during the season.

Lolley struggled for consistency and form throughout the campaign. He found the net just once, registering three assists.

His teammate, Yates, has made a bold prediction, however, believing he will come back firing next season.

Yates himself often struggled for consistency during 2020/21 and it was a theme for a lot of players.

Lolley was perhaps a more surprising struggling member of the team though, given his undoubted quality.

During 2019/20 he scored 10 goals and claimed nine assists as the Reds narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

He has so often been the Reds’ match-winner in the past and Forest fans will hope he can return to form.

Clearly he’s working hard in the gym and and that bodes well for Chris Hughton ahead of pre-season.

Forest need Lolley firing next season

If there is one player who the team could really do with a resurgence it’s the flying winger.

Form is, of course, temporary and Forest fans will hope class proves to be permanent next season.

Lolley did look badly out of sorts last season and the short turnaround did him no favours at all.

With a proper rest and recovery the hope will be that Forest can start to see the best of Lolley once more.

He is still only 28 and at Championship level he can prove a real asset on his day.

Forest fans – and Hughton – will hope the real Lolley stands up during 2021/22.
