Ex-Nottingham Forest midfielder Adlene Guedioura could be winging his way back to the Championship with Sheffield United.
The 35-year-old could soon link up with Slavisa Jokanovic who recently arrived at Bramall Lane.
The new Blades boss worked with Guedioura at Al-Gharafa and is keen for a reunion, as per the Sheffield Star.
The man with 60 caps for his country has spent time at the City Ground on three different occasions.
In total, he has made 100 appearances for the Reds, scoring six goals and claiming six assists.
His last spell didn’t exactly end on the best of terms, with the player falling out with Martin O’Neill.
It was claimed that Guedioura clashed with the Forest legend during a game at Ipswich Town.
The Guardian claimed that O’Neill had asked the midfielder to warm down after being an unused substitute for the match.
Guedioura refused, telling the boss that as the game was over he was now on international duty.
He played just 30 minutes more football following that escapade and left the following summer – along with O’Neill.
On the whole though, Guedioura was typically a decent player for the Reds. Certainly during his first two spell on Trentside he really adhered himself to supporters.
What could Sheffield United expect from Guedioura?
It wouldn’t exactly be against the grain for the Blades to land a former Forest player.
Ben Osborn, Jack Robinson, Oliver Burke and David McGoldrick are all in place at the South Yorkshire-based club.
At 35, Guedioura will surely be way past his best. It’s probably fair to say he looked as much two years ago at Forest.
If he goes into the club and knuckles down though, he could act as a decent foil for the team’s attacking players.
He moves the ball well, gets stuck in and is capable of the sublime with his right foot.
Forest fans will be glad it’s not the Reds looking to secure a return to English football for the Algerian player.
