Nottingham Forest are leading Barnsley in the chase to sign Brentford star Emiliano Marcondes, according to Football Insider.
The 26-year-old scored in the Championship play-off final as the Bees beat Swansea to reach the Premier League.
He hasn’t been offered a new contract though and will leave the club next month.
Forest are now prepared to pounce and are currently leading Barnsley in their attempts to sign the midfielder.
Marcondes has been an integral part of Brentford’s success and will have no problems finding a new deal.

The Dane signed for Brentford in 2019 from Midtjylland and made 97 appearances for the Bees.
During 2020/21 he scored three goals and played 21 times as a No 10, with another 18 appearances made as a central midfielder.
Now, Marcondes is in a position where he needs to find a new club and he’d surely relish the chance to stay in England.
Forest will be in the market for new players this summer, with midfielders definitely on the radar.
Ryan Yates and Cafu are both under contract for next season but Jack Colback and Harry Arter appear to be way down the pecking order.
As a result, Chris Hughton will almost certainly target another midfielder or two before the season gets underway.
Marcondes could be game-changer for Forest
Signing a player possessing as much quality as Marcondes would represent a strong start to the summer for Forest.
The Reds are in desperate need of better players and the Brentford man fits the bill perfectly.
Forest have come up against Marcondes before and he’s always looked capable against the Reds.

It will hurt him that he’s not been given an extension after firing Brentford to promotion.
Forest could hand him the perfect opportunity to prove some people wrong and they have to pounce to sign him this summer.
