Nottingham Forest have been handed a boost in their quest to sign Brighton youngster Ryan Longman on loan. The Reds have been linked with a move for the youngster during the transfer window.
The 20-year-old has penned a new two-year contract with the Seagulls, according to The Argus. Brighton’s technical director, Dan Ashworth, has also confirmed that he will head out on loan.
Longman spent last season out on loan with AFC Wimbledon. He made 52 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and registering five assists.
He helped the League One outfit survive relegation and now a Championship loan could be on the cards for the youngster.
Ashworth has confirmed that another temporary stint seems likely for the lively talisman.
He told The Argus: “Ryan really proved himself in men’s football last season with Wimbledon, impressing David Weir to the point where he’s earned a new deal.
“Ryan is keen to continue to learn and wants to build on what that experience has given him.
Forest should move for future star Longman
“We are currently reviewing his situation. and that is likely to involve another season on loan, but we are confident he has another good year ahead of him.”
Forest boss Hughton is a cult hero at Brighton, following his work in leading the Seagulls into the Premier League for the very first time.
Brighton would probably see a move to Forest as a decent one. They clearly trust the work that Hughton does and would see Longman being in good hands.
With that in mind, perhaps Forest are in the driving seat to complete their first loan signing of the summer.
Longman also made 10 appearances on the right-wing and he could prove a decent bit of loan business by the Reds.
