Luke Freeman will be handed a chance to impress Sheffield United boss Slavisa Jokanovic after his ordinary Nottingham Forest loan.
The Sheffield Star claim each Blades performer has a clean slate and that includes the attacking midfielder.
It is also claimed that Stoke City and Bournemouth are keen to sign the 29-year-old during the summer transfer window.
Freeman became a United player in 2019 when he checked in at Bramall Lane for £4 million. He made just 16 appearances for the Blades, however, and was loaned out last season.
He didn’t settle at Forest. By his own admission, he wasn’t really fit and struggled with a troublesome groin problem. At the City Ground, he scored once during 25 appearances for the club.
Now, he could earn a reprieve. Proven Championship boss Jokanovic is keen to assess his squad – and that offers hope for Freeman.
If he can’t force his way into the team, another Championship move could be on the cards. Both Stoke and Bournemouth want to take the player on loan.
Jokanovic has become the permanent successor to club legend Chris Wilder. Paul Heckingbottom was in temporary charge last season as the Blades were relegated.
The ball is now in Freeman’s court and it’s down to him to impress the club’s new manager.
Will Forest return for Freeman?
Absolutely not. His time at the City Ground was extremely disappointing and he failed to deliver on the expectation of the club’s supporters.
He arrived as a quality Championship player with bags of experience in the second tier. Freeman never got going though and will go down as a Forest flop.
The £10,000-a-week performer never really looked fit and struggled to overcome his injury problems.
Freeman never really earned a regular run in the team and as a result, he struggled to gain any consistency.
It would be a massive surprise if he earns another shot at Bramall Lane and it would be a decision that would massively surprise the Forest faithful.
