Nottingham Forest have seen their summer recruitment drive take another hit. Reported target Ryan Longman has today signed for Championship rivals Hull City.

The Reds had been linked with a move to sign the Brighton striker, with Chris Hughton keen to make a raid on his former club. Now, he will aim to help Grant McCann’s team enjoy a maiden season back in the second-tier.

Longman spent last season on loan with AFC Wimbledon. He scored nine goals for League One outfit, playing a big part in their third-tier survival.

The 20-year-old proved a versatile performer for the Dons. He also operated on the flanks and registered five assists in Mark Robinson’s team.

He was recently handed a two-year contract by Brighton, but will now spend the next 12 months on loan with the Tigers.

Hull romped to the League One title last season and will have lofty ambitions of going well this season.

Longman will hope to play plenty of football and prove to the people at Brighton that he can eventually make an impact there.

The youngster looks like a steady addition to the Hull ranks and Forest supporters will monitor his progress with intrigue.

At 20, the versatile forward has bags of time on his side and could thrive with regular first-team football.

Forest might not have been able to offer such a deal when it comes to game time. They still have Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor at the club and they are under contract for next season.

It’s perhaps somewhat alarming that the club is yet to add a transfer, but you can bet the recruitment staff are working tirelessly to get some deals done.

One man who won’t be on the shortlist any longer is Brighton talent Longman.
